FIND OUT MORE About the Conference

On 21st through to 23rd June, the Virtual Trauma Recovery Summit will be hosted live from Titanic Belfast.

The Virtual Trauma Recovery Summit brings together the world’s leading experts in the field of trauma and trauma recovery to present their latest research and understanding of trauma and how it effects both individuals, families and communities. Trauma is a universal pandemic, but together we can Be the Change and work collectively to bring hope, recovery, resilience and healing to a world that is hurting

Over the three days:

The Virtual Trauma Recovery Summit will give practitioners in the field the latest knowledge and understanding which they can integrate into their work and communities to deliver positive outcomes on the road to recovery. Buy Ticket

Healing the Hidden Wounds of Racial Trauma

A disproportionate number of children and youth of colour fail in school and become trapped in the pipelines of treatment, social service, and justice systems. This presentation examines racial trauma and highlights strategies for healing and transformation. Racial oppression is a traumatic form of interpersonal violence which can lacerate the spirit, scar the soul, and puncture the psyche. Without a clear and descriptive language to describe this experience, those who suffer cannot coherently convey their pain, let alone heal. The source of their hurt is often confused with distracting secondary symptoms. As with other forms of trauma, we ask the wrong question about struggling youth of colour. Instead of asking “What is wrong with them?” we need to ask the trauma-informed question, “What has happened to them?”. 12:45

Presentation One

Introduction to Internal Family Systems Model (IFS)

IFS is a transformative, evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people heal by accessing and loving their protective and wounded inner parts. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. We also all have a core Self, Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged, it knows how to heal. By helping first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts, IFS creates inner and outer connectedness. Richard is the Founder of IFS and will present on how IFS can heal and bring relaxation to help treat inner traumas. 12:30

Angela Findlay

Workshop Two

Artistic Therapy – Colour is the language of the soul – Experiential Workshop – Materials required

This one hour workshop will be divided into two parts. The first part will be a practical introduction to the three primary colours – yellow, blue and red – whereby participants are invited to explore their individual qualities. In a further guided exercise, they will begin to work with all three to produce their own unique image. These simple exercises can be both profound and fun. No previous experience is required. Just some blank paper and red yellow and blue paints, coloured crayons, pens or pastels. In the second part, Angela will present some examples from her workshops to demonstrate how this approach can be developed and used in different situations. Monday

Workshop Three

Trauma Healing on the Spiritual Path

When real, physical threats arise, human instincts take over and can create extraordinary feats of focused attention and action. The “awe-full” qualities of horror and terror we can experience at such times share essential roots with profoundly transformative states such as flow, awe, presence, timelessness, and ecstasy as they reach far beyond the limiting mind. The bridging of these states with everyday awareness can be a key feature of spiritual growth and expansion. As we bring awareness to our wounds and gradually access and integrate this energy into our nervous system and psychic structures, we begin to experience greater freedom, expansion and connection to our true self. As we integrate those wounds, the instinctual survival response embedded within trauma can catalyse authentic spiritual transformation. This workshop will help you to understand the relationship between trauma healing and various spiritual states. Discover how to work withaltered states in dealing with the residue of deep trauma. You may have heard of oxytocin, it is often called the “love drug”, however it is more than just that. Oxytocin also protects and defends from intruders and heals our body physically. How are your delegate fees arrived at?

Conferences are expensive to run. Speakers and their costs must be paid. There is also planning and promotion to pay for. Action Trauma is committed to increasing the awareness of psychological trauma, its many causes, widespread effects and the many ways of treating and healing it. We are a not-for-profit company and the delegate fees are struck at a rate which tries to cover operational costs. For what we offer, we are told that our fees are much less than most other similar events.Do you offer any concessionary rates?

No, we do not offer any concessionary rates, this is because we are a not-for-profit company and the delegate fees are struck at a rate which tries to cover operational costs. For what we offer, we are told that our fees are much less than most other similar events. What is your refund policy?

If for any reason you need to cancel your booking, we will refund you as follows:

  1. 80% of ticket price refunded if notification is received three months or more prior to the conference date.
  2. 50% of your ticket price refunded if notification is received after the three months and prior to one month of conference date.
  3. No refunds will be offered within one month of the conference date

Please note if you have rolled over to our Trauma Recovery Summit 2022 and purchased an exclusive £90 ticket for this event you are not eligible for any refund. Exclusive tickets at £90 are strictly non-refundable.Can I be invoiced for Tickets?

Yes, you can get an invoice for the conference. Please email [email protected]Will I earn CPD points for this event?

Yes, the hours you complete will equal the amount of CPD points earned. After the event is over, you will receive a certificate equivalent to the hours of the conference. Using your best judgement, you will then credit yourself with the hours spent learning for your own record. How many CPD points will be accredited?

Upon completion of a virtual event with Action Trauma, you will receive a certificate of attendance within 14 days. This certificate will detail the amount of CPD hours that the conference covers. Based on the content you have watched – you can then proceed to make a personal record of the hours you watched. We encourage you to be honest with yourself in recording the hours you watched. This may be flagged with a membership organisation, so you must track points appropriately. The certificate will also have a ‘CPD learning tool’ on the second page. This learning tool will contain a few questions which will allow you to reflect and capture your learning outcomes from that particular event. Please note that many professional membership bodies and governing institutes require this as part of a formal CPD record and will not accept points recorded/certificates, that do not include this information. What if I missed the event on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd June?

The platform will remain live for up to 6 months after the event. During this time, you will be able to network with colleagues from across the globe, spend time at our virtual exhibitor booths and re-watch the workshops and keynote presentations. Will speaker slides be available?

Most of them will be available. Some speakers have not given permission to have their slides available for download after their presentation due to the content that is being touched upon during their presentation. Will there be breaks in the three days?

Yes, we have incorporated two breaks into the daily schedule. This will give you the opportunity to take a break or join in on our online breathing exercises. Why does the schedule start at 12noon (GMT/UK time)?

There are two reasons. A lot of our speakers are based in the US and in order to create an allowance for their time zone, we start at midday. Our speakers are live and their locations range from East to West coast of the US – which have significant time differences. We also have a wide reach of International delegates attending from across the globe. Even though the event is recorded, this time delay still gives an allowance for delegates joining us in real time from the US/Canada and South America. I am watching from a work computer and there is a firewall/ security system set up. What should I do?

Whova will still be able to function through any firewall/security system that an organisation has set up. If you are working through council/healthcare portals, you may face additional problems. If this is the case, please contact your technical team for assistance in getting restrictions lifted with the firewall.Do I need a specific browser for the event platform (Whova) to work at its best?

Whova recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla to access the platform for the most efficient experience. Whova works best at a 2Mbps running speed. In order to have a secure connection before the conference, please do an internet speed check:  https://www.speedtest.net/Will there be an opportunity to ask questions, participate in polls or network with others?

During each presentation you will have the opportunity to ask questions in a chat box at the side of the screen. After each presentation there will be a live Q&A session, in which we will take those questions and use them as the topic of conversation. There will be frequent polls and an opportunity to network with colleagues from your sector on a global basis. There is a section called ‘Community’ in which you can network with other delegates. For GDPR protection, delegate email addresses or other personal information will not be available to view by other delegates. Can I view the sessions through my mobile device?

Yes, there is a Whova mobile app along with the desktop version of Whova. Go to your Apple App Store or Android Play Store to download the app. Whova provides apps for Android and iOS, including smartphones and tablets so you can watch the conference on the go and from your desktop. What do I do if I am struggling with the topics or content at the conference?

If any of the topics raised are causing you upset or you would like to seek guidance, please refer to our ‘Documents’ section on the homepage, which details a range of links and resources for support. If I cannot log in, find the link, remember my password or if I am having other technical issues, what shall I do?

The Action Trauma team, alongside the tech team at Whova, will be on hand throughout the two days to answer any questions and help with any technical issues. For any other questions, please email: [email protected] I need a receipt for this event, how can I get one?
